Bo's Place - Where Children are Heard and Hearts are Healed

Traveling under the program title "Volunteerism:  United We Serve," the delegation that came to Houston included non-profit executives and board members from 25 countries (from Albania to Zimbabwe!).  Their program included two days of professional meetings with local organizations, beginning with a meeting at Bo’s Place and presentation by HAVA (Houston Association of Volunteer Administrators).  We enjoyed welcoming these visitors to Houston and to Bo’s Place!

 Bo’s Place recently hosted Anticipatory Grief: A Discussion with Mental Health Professionals.  This innovative program offering featured presenters from the most respected Houston institutions: MD Anderson Cancer Center, The Methodist Hospital, Houston Hospice, The Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute, and The New School in the Heights.  Attendees enjoyed a wonderful presentation and engaging discussion with these professionals, and we thank everyone for their participation.

Alumni from St. John’s School volunteered at Bo’s Place and provided a wonderful meal for families participating in evening support groups.  Everyone was thrilled to enjoy a hot meal, served with warm smiles by the St. John’s volunteers.  We appreciate the service they provided to the families of Bo’s Place!

Business majors from the University of Houston banded together to provide a delicious home-cooked meal for Bo’s Place families.  Children and adults alike enjoyed a taco bar, hot dog stand and fun sandwiches.  And a plethora of desserts rounded the meal off!  We thank this group for their continued service to Bo’s Place!

Bo’s Place was honored to recognize all of the 2009-2010 volunteers, including Volunteer Facilitators, Kitchen Volunteers, and Special Event Chairs.  A wonderful evening of dining and socializing was enjoyed by all.  Thanks to our many amazing volunteers!
