Bo's Place - Where Children are Heard and Hearts are Healed

Meal Sponsor

Meal Sponsors provide food and serve dinner or lunch for a Family Support Group on a Monday-Thursday night or Sunday afternoon.  These volunteers offer a welcome respite from traditional potluck meals and also enjoy the opportunity to treat the families and volunteers.  Meal attendees range from 60-90 people.  Meal Sponsors are responsible for providing a balanced meal (main dish, one vegetable, one side, and dessert) for the anticipated number of people, while Bo’s Place provides drinks and all necessary serving utensils.  Meal Sponsors are welcome to decorate the dining room for special occasions or prepare goodie bags for the children.  The time commitment is approximately 2 hours onsite, and the volunteers are encouraged to participate in a tour prior to serving their meal.

Kitchen Volunteer

Kitchen volunteers meet and welcome families as they arrive.  These volunteers help set up the buffet style potluck meal, prepare drinks, and generally oversee the meal.  Following the meal, they are asked to prepare leftover food for families to take home and leave the kitchen in order.  Kitchen volunteers assist in the evenings from 6:00-7:30pm Mondays/Wednesdays, 5:30-7:00pm Tuesdays/Thursdays, or 12:30-2:00pm Sundays twice a month.  Kitchen volunteers must be at least 15 years old and must attend a Volunteer Information Session.  A brief kitchen orientation will be provided on the first night.

Special Projects

Special project volunteers provide support to Bo’s Place in a number of creative ways.  Special Projects include Supply Drives derived from our Wish List, and a visit to Bo’s Place to drop the items off.  Groups with particular areas of interest or special talents are encouraged to contact us so that we can identify a customized project to accommodate the group.
