Facilitator
Volunteer facilitators lead daytime and evening support groups for children ages 3-18 and their families. Facilitators lead children or adult grief support groups twice monthly or every week, from 6:00-9:30pm Mondays/Wednesdays and 5:30-9:00pm Tuesdays/Thursdays. During the day, facilitators can help lead weekly Little Friends (ages 3-5) groups or the Adults groups. Experience in mental health professions is not required. Volunteer facilitators must attend a Volunteer Information Session, followed by one of our 25+ hour trainings that are held three times a year. Facilitators must be at least 22 years of age and must commit to one year of service.
If you are interested in volunteering or training to become a support group facilitator, please contact us to register for one of our monthly Volunteer Information Sessions.
Kitchen Volunteer
Kitchen volunteers meet and welcome families as they arrive. These volunteers help set up the buffet style potluck dinner, prepare drinks, and generally oversee the meal. Following dinner, they are asked to prepare leftover food for families to take home and leave the kitchen in order. Kitchen volunteers assist in the evenings from 6:00-7:30pm Mondays/Wednesdays and 5:30-7:00pm Tuesdays/Thursdays twice a month. Kitchen volunteers must be at least 15 years old and must attend a Volunteer Information Session. A brief kitchen orientation will be provided on the first night.
Greeter
These volunteers are at our front desk information center in the evenings. They welcome our families upon arrival, make sure they sign in, get their nametags, and deliver their food to the kitchen. Greeters assist Mondays/Wednesdays from 6:00pm-7:00pm and Tuesdays/Thursdays from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Greeters must be at least 15 years old and must attend a Volunteer Information Session. A brief kitchen orientation will be provided on the first night.
Special Projects
Special project volunteers provide support to Bo’s Place in a number of creative ways. Individuals who may have a particular area of interest or talent that they would like to share with Bo’s Place or who would like to assist us in our special events are welcome.
Junior Volunteer Program
Bo’s Place has expanded its volunteer program to try to meet the volunteer interests of some of our younger community members. Teens and young adults 15-18 can volunteer at Bo’s Place as a Kitchen, Greeter, or Special Projects volunteer.
