Synopsis:
The holiday season often adds additional stress to a family that is grieving the death of a loved one. Designed for helping professionals, this online workshop will describe common reactions to the holidays that the bereaved often experience. Techniques and activities to use with children and adults to help them express their desires, concerns and expectations regarding the holidays will be discussed, as well as ways to work toward creating new meaningful traditions as a family.
Objectives:
- Recognize the importance of memories in relation to holidays/special events and how it impacts the grief journey
- Identify common challenges faced by the bereaved during the holidays and other special days
- Apply techniques and activities to support bereaved individuals and families in creating new traditions
